Bomb Bomber

Bomb Bomber

There is a lot of action in this outfit, and I'm 'bout it. I have thrown these pieces around with everything. With this cute outfit being only a mixture of everyday pieces, I want to share with you what is directing my shopping this year. I have been buying more practically, and purposefully picking things that I know I will be able to wear over and over in different ways--  making totally new outfits with the same pieces. Obviously this isn't for everything in my wardrobe, but it has helped me significantly to "cut the bs" in my closet, wallet, and life. I started with jeans (still working to find my perfect pairs). I only need a couple pair of jeans to work with but be sure they are different shades or you'll kind of be defeating the point. Next, grab basic (a little up from basic?!) tees/tops in your favorite colors and neutrals (gotta have those neutrals), and in different styles-- turtlenecks, v-necks, short sleeve, long sleeve etc. . . For shoes, those are my weakness so I can't help you there. Just kidding. If I had to choose three to work with for everyday right now I would choose my Seychelles (Black cutout), these Adidas, and my pink Frye slip-ons. They each have a different look, are tailored to my style and are so, so comfy. TBH, I would probably still choose my Dylan slip-ons over most shoes in my closet and I have had them for almost a year now (that is saying something). Of course, that is my personal style (comfort), but in most cases it's good to have a heel, a boot/bootie, and a more casual slip on or athletic shoe as your "go-to." I don't accessorize often, but I like to make up for that in shoes or little pieces of clothing here and there that take the place-- much like this bomber. I wanted a bomber I could throw on to make an outfit a little more sporty or cool and wear it with a lot. This goes for cardigans too, I am soooo a cardigan girl. I have a handful that I love and use in and out weekly. My point is, I've accumulated pieces that I want to/can wear with lots of different things.

At the end of the day, I think about all that I have in my closet and I love all my clothes, but most items get very little wear because "that's not something I want to wear on a regular day/basis" or "I wore that not long ago so I can't wear it again yet." Essentially, clothes are an investment and I get sick of having things that aren't practical taking up so much room in my life. It comes down to asking myself "Rachael, why did you get this if you didn't plan to wear it?" So, I rethought all of this recently and I am a better shopper and consumer for it. I'll always have those statement pieces and so should you, but there is nothing better than having all the different little pieces you need to make a great outfit. Especially with life on the go and constant changing trends, you can always come back to the basics and mix them up with the next big things.
